How do I roll back a driver to a previous version?

The rollback driver feature available in Windows Device Manager is used to uninstall the current driver and then automatically install the previously installed version of the driver. The most common reason to use the driver rollback feature is to reverse a driver update that caused any problem with the functionality of a hardware device.

To roll back a driver in Microsoft Windows:

1. Press the Windows key + R key on the keyboard.

2. In the Run dialog box, type devmgmt.msc and press the Enter key.

3. In Device Manager, locate the device that needs a driver rollback.

NOTE: Navigate through the hardware categories by clicking > or + sign, depending on your version of Windows.

4. Right-click the device's name or icon and select Properties.

5. In the Properties window, click the Driver tab.

6. Click the Roll Back Driver button, to revert the driver to the previous version.

NOTE: If the Roll Back Driver button is disabled, Windows does not have a previous version of the driver available to roll back. The driver rollback only allows you to roll back a driver once. The driver rollback feature is not available for printer drivers.

7. Click Yes to confirm and proceed with driver rollback.

8. Click Close.

9. Click Yes on the System Settings Change dialog box to restart the computer.
